Chris Penabad is a Chartered Civil Engineer and real estate development professional with a track record across hospitality, leisure, commercial and education. His experience spans the UK, Ireland, UAE and Qatar.

He has led acquisition and development programmes with responsibility for approximately £260m in build cost, always connecting design quality and brand standards with programme discipline, operational readiness and investor return.

As a Chartered Civil Engineer with over two decades of hands-on development experience across the UK, Ireland, and the Middle East, Chris has been on both sides of distressed development situations, working within project teams when things go wrong, and understanding precisely where decisions, risks, and responsibilities lie.

Our Development Forensics & Recovery service begins by working directly with the client’s incumbent team, gaining access to acquisition leads, development managers, and professional consultants to understand the decisions made, the steps taken, and the reasoning behind them at every stage of the project lifecycle. This inside-out approach ensures nothing is missed, and where additional expert support is needed, we identify the right specialists for the client to engage.

The result is a rigorous, evidence-based analysis of critical decision points, points of inflection, risk events, and process failures, delivered alongside the client’s legal team as a clear, structured, and defensible position.

But our involvement doesn’t stop at insight. Drawing on that analysis, we work hands-on with the client to take practical control, protecting asset value, mitigating loss, and navigating the real-world dynamics of a distressed development. That means managing how funds are protected, keeping critical contractors and consultants on side and on site, and guiding the practical next steps whether through build-out or other recovery strategies.
